Australia's Official History Register
The PPSR — Personal Property Securities Register — is maintained by the Australian Government. It records whether a vehicle or piece of equipment has money owing on it, has been reported stolen, or has been written off.
It is the gold standard for checking the financial and legal history of a machine before you buy it. No other check comes close.

Do I need to run my own PPSR check on Verified Rigs?
No. We perform it as standard on every listing. Every machine showing the Verified badge has been checked against the official register. However, for complete peace of mind right before handover, you can always request a fresh live check.
What happens if a listing fails the PPSR check?
It never goes live. We notify the seller and the listing is rejected. This prevents fraudulent or encumbered machines from entering our marketplace entirely.
Does the PPSR cover tractors, excavators and trucks?
Yes. The register covers almost all agricultural machinery, earthmoving equipment, trucks, trailers and plant equipment. Any machine with a VIN or serial number can be checked.
What if I'm buying privately on Facebook or Gumtree?
Always request the VIN from the seller and run your own PPSR check at ppsr.gov.au. If a seller refuses to provide the VIN, walk away immediately — that is a guaranteed red flag. Better still, only buy from Verified Rigs where we've already done it for you.
Is the PPSR check a guarantee of mechanical condition?
No. The PPSR only assesses legal and financial title. For mechanical peace of mind, request an independent 50-point mechanical inspection through our inspection service before committing to purchase.
